Visiting Arist: Carlos Enrique Prado Herrera

Last Wednesday, contemporary Cuban artist Carlos Enrique Prado Herrera visited the Professional Practices class. He gave a presentation on his work as well as the challenges faced by artists within Cuba, the art program at the University of Arts of Cuba (where he is the Department Head of the sculpture program), and the story of his professional development as an artist.

Carlos was born in Havana City in 1978. He received his Masters in Arts from the University of Arts in Cuba in 2008. He works in a number of media including sculpture, ceramics, drawing, and digital art. He has shown in both group and solo exhibitions in the United States, Mexico, Spain, and Cuba, including a solo show in Miami in 2008. He was awarded second place in the Havana Biennial of Ceramics in 2007.
